For our second week of OBDF 110 we learned about remix culture and to try our hands on it.
Remix culture is the process of creating new things and ideas with already pre-existing creations. With that definition almost everything in our modern age is a remix.
For our assignment we got two or more objects from Thingiverse and mesh mash them in Tinkercad to create new concepts.
1. Sweet Desert
When I imagine a cactus it's usually in a brown pot so that gave me the idea to replace the pot with an ice cream cone. This is one's a simple concept but I think it's alright for the first one I made.

2. Fighting Fire w/ Fire
It's a fire extinguisher that shoots out fire so I guess it could be considered a flame thrower in disguise. Fire can't spread if everything is already burnt to a crisp.

3. Dip it in Milk
There's so many Oreo flavors out there, why don't they just make a meal then. Home made Alberta beef patties with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion and mushroom sandwiched between crunchy chocolate Oreo cookies.
4. Social media controller
Social media controls a lot of peoples lives so I created a controller that gives you the illusion of control but in reality the controller/ social media is the one controlling you.

5. Power of Love
The mane of the male lion reminded me of flowers. I first tried a more simple flower but the lion looked like a lion a young child would draw and it had a familiarity to it's look so instead the rose gave it a more unique look I haven't seen before.

6. Budget Cuts

7. Worried about the Future
A modern "The Thinker" by Auguste Rodin.

9. BANANAAAA
Yes I am aware that is not a banana but in fact corn. While searching for other things on thingiverse I stumbled upon some minion goggles and as much as I dislike them I can't deny how iconic they have become. The corn worked so well cause there's many small identical yellow kernels that stick together just like the minions.

The shape of strawberries works so well with the abdomen of the spider! This is my favorite mash up, I just find it very cute and appealing with the contrast of colours and the leaf of the strawberry making it look like the spider is wearing a skirt.

11. Thomas's the Electrical Outlet
I think we've all seen the face the holes of the electrical outlet creates. I went through a few faces before ending up with this one. I first tried emojis but they were too simple and flat. Next I tried a realistic face but it didn't fit the shape well and it was just scary. Thomas hit a nice middle ground of the previous two, it fits well, recognizable, and has a little uneasy feeling.

12. Support
A mash up of a high heel and Atlas holding the earth. Don't know how functional this heel would be, I'd imagine Atlas's legs chipping off after a couple steps.
